Pittsburgh Steelers high-profile star QB Ben Roethisberger will be suspended for six games as means to set an example… oh, and for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy.
“…you are held to a higher standard as an N.F.L. player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans,” Commissioner Goodell said in a statement.
Are people really supposed to believe that NFL players are held to a higher conduct standard when the league is full of criminals? DUI, manslaughter, domestic abuse, drug possession and drunk driving are just some of the offenses many players in the league are guilty of.
It is not a coincidence that Goodell tries to make an example of a high-profile, white star. He doesn’t want to look racist, but also wants to appear that no one is too big of a star for the “rules.”
I’d end on a laugh, but the whole thing is a joke.
